Electric Vehicles

Adoption of FPCB made from PI film in EV batteries, semiconductors, displays and sensors is rapidly growing.
PI varnish is also being used for electrical insulation of the wires in EV electric motors.

Electric Vehicles

Camera modules are increasingly replacing the traditional side view mirrors in electric vehicles. ​ PI black varnish has excellent heat resistance and dimensional stability for effective shielding of onboard cameras to extend visibility in all environments.

PI film compound adhesive has excellent heat and chemical resistant properties suitable for EV battery insulation applications. The rapidly growing demand for EV rechargeable batteries spurred by electrification in the automotive industry is accelerating the adoption of PI film for EV battery insulation.

With excellent heat resistance, low dielectric properties and corona discharge protection, PI varnish provides effective electrical and thermal insulation for the enamel wires in electric motors to enable higher voltage power output.​

PI film is the base material used for manufacturing FPCB components such as 3-layer FCCL, 2-layer FCCL, coverlay, and stiffener, and provides substrate, protection, and reinforcement to FPCB used in electronic devices.​ Due to the market demand for high-performing and compact electronic devices, adoption of FPCB that offers more circuit design flexibility is increasing.

For power semiconductors such as IGBTs and FRDs, PI varnish is used as a passivation layer to protect the semiconductor surface from the surrounding environment. 

PI binder offers excellent adhesion properties and electrochemical stability to help achieve high energy efficiency and high-speed charging of EV batteries.
