PI Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. (178920), the leading Korean polyimide (PI) manufacturer with the largest global market share and an affiliate of global specialty chemicals group Arkema (ISIN: FR0010313833) announced that it will participate in InterBattery 2026, Korea’s largest battery exhibition to be held in March, underscoring its strategic expansion into the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage system (ESS) battery sectors. (Booth C520).
Following its showcase of semiconductor solutions at SEMICON Korea in February, the company will now comprehensively present its Zenimid™ polyimide brand— launched in July 2025—along with its portfolio for EV and ESS battery applications, further solidifying its position in the battery industry.
At this year’s exhibition, Zenimid™ PI film for flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs) used in battery management systems (BMS) will be introduced as a key material. These FPCBs serve as signal transmission components connecting battery cells to the BMS and require a high level of electrical reliability and durability. Zenimid™ PI film offers excellent heat resistance and high dielectric breakdown voltage, ensuring electrical stability even in highly integrated circuit structures. In addition, the material maintains dimensional stability and consistent physical properties despite temperature fluctuations and external environmental influences, making it a highly reliable solution for precision-driven BMS design.
Another highlight is Zenimid™ PI film for battery insulation tape applications, emphasizing its superior high-temperature stability. Designed to maintain structural and electrical integrity in environments exceeding 400°C, the material is well-suited for insulation across cell, module, and pack configurations. It minimizes deformation under repeated charge–discharge cycles, vibration, and thermal expansion stress, thereby enhancing overall battery safety and long-term reliability. Offered in a range of thicknesses—including an ultra-thin 4㎛ grade—the insulation solution is increasingly recognized as a critical material for next-generation high-voltage, high-output battery systems.
The exhibition will also feature PI varnish materials for thermal runaway prevention pads and busbars, as well as PI molded components capable of withstanding temperatures above 260°C. These product lines provide effective solutions for thermal management and high-temperature structural parts within battery packs, contributing to improved safety and lightweight design.
Notably, PI Advanced Materials will participate jointly with Arkema, a leading expert in high‑performance materials for the battery and electric vehicle industry. The group will showcase a comprehensive portfolio of materials for both inside the cell—Kynar® PVDF and Incellion™ acrylic solutions—and the battery pack, including advanced polyamides Rilsan® PA11 and Rilsamid® PA12, Sartomer® UV‑curable resins, and Bostik adhesive solutions.
Kevin Song, CEO of PI Advanced Materials stated, “InterBattery 2026 marks our comprehensive presentation of Zenimid™ polyimide materials tailored for battery applications. Through collaboration with Arkema Group, we will deliver integrated solutions across the battery value chain and further strengthen our position in the global EV and ESS markets.”
