PI Advanced Materials Earns AA Rating in Korea’s Compliance Program

2025.09.16

PI Advanced Materials (KOSPI: 178920), the global No. 1 in polyimide (PI) materials and an affiliate of France’s Arkema Group (ISIN: FR0010313833), announced on the 16th that it has been designated by Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) under its Internal Compliance Program (CP) on export control, receiving the prestigious AA rating.

The Certificate of Internal Compliance Program is granted only to companies with independent and systematic internal control capabilities over strategic materials. Until now, the certification has been granted primarily to arge conglomerates in sectors such as semiconductors and displays, reflecting its stringent requirements. PI Advanced Materials earned the designation in recognition of its autonomous export management capabilities.

Strategic materials refer to items or technologies that can be diverted to the development of advanced capabilities in the defense domain. Their export requires strict oversight to prevent transfer to sanctioned states or organizations. Companies certified under the Compliance Program benefit from streamlined government licensing procedures. With its newly awarded AA rating—a distinguished grade within the program—PI Advanced Materials is now eligible for exemptions from certain export license requirements and benefits from expedited review processes.

This achievement is especially meaningful as it reflects PI Advanced Materials’ commitment to its global responsibilities as a company with a strong presence in the PI market. The AA rating, an upper-tier grade within the program, validates that the company’s export management systems and internal controls meet international benchmarks. It also reinforces PI Advanced Materials’ position as a reliable and trusted partner in the global supply chain.

The certification reflects PI Advanced Materials’ robust control framework to prevent the unauthorized transfer of strategic materials, supported by comprehensive internal processes spanning from customer inquiries to shipment and post-delivery monitoring. These measures strengthen the company’s reputation as a responsible player in global trade while reinforcing its ESG commitments and proactive risk management.

“Our designation affirms the strength and credibility of PI Advanced Materials’ export control systems,” said Heejoon Ham, Chief Financial & Strategy Officer (CFSO). “We will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities while rigorously maintaining our autonomous export management program.”
